Social Media Interns

The Social Media Interns pitch, write, and post content for Habitat's Facebook, Twitter, and other social media accounts. They will also assist in tracking and analyzing content performance data toward building followership and engagement. This is a remote position with flexible hours, requiring a high level of organization and self-motivation and the ability to effectively collaborate with other creative professionals and meet deadlines.



  • Write and post content according to Habitat social media strategy and posting schedule

  • Pitch new content ideas, take initiative to seek out and follow organizations, individuals, and publications of interest to Habitat readers

  • Assist in tracking, analyzing, and evaluating content success and in compiling monthly social strategy reports

  • Learn about SEO best practices and apply this knowledge to Habitat social media posts toward followership and engagement growth

  • Participate in and assist with other Habitat initiatives as needed (including opportunities to feature creative work on our podcast, promoting Habitat content across personal social media presence, etc.)

Key Competencies:

  • Proficiency in social media platforms (especially Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn)

  • Strong working knowledge of effective grammar, punctuation, and writing structure and voice

  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervising staff regarding social media initiatives, posting schedule, and content success, respond to Habitat communications in a timely manner

  • Self-motivation to pitch and write content of quality on deadline

  • Organized, self-motivated, with a strong attention to detail

  • Experience writing content for digital platforms preferred

  • Knowledge of SEO best practices a plus

  • Experience copy editing, proofreading, and fact checking a plus
